Andi Herzog (sélectionneur des Etats-Unis) : "Mes joueurs ont perdu confiance"

"Je pense que nous avons très mal débuté le match. En dix minutes, nous avons presque marqué deux buts contre notre camp sur des erreurs individuelles. Cela a été un choc pour mes joueurs qui ont complètement perdu confiance. Nous n'avons pas pu apporter de liaison entre nos passes, même défensivement, nous n'étions pas capables de contrer les attaques françaises. A la mi-temps, nous savions que cela allait être difficile car mon équipe avait pris un coup au mental. J'ai dit aux joueurs d'oublier tout ce qui avait été mal fait en première période et de commencer le match. Je pense que la seconde période a été correcte mais je sais que quand une équipe comme la France mène trois à zéro, elle ne joue plus à cent pour cent. Mais c'était bien de voir mon équipe montrer du caractère pour inscrire au moins un but et garder le match ouvert, mais avec cette première période, nous n'étions pas capable de l'emporter."

Andi Herzog (USA headcoach) : "Our players lost their confidence"

"I think we had a real bad starting to the game. In ten minutes we nearly scores two own goals because of individual mistakes. This was a shock for our players who completely lost their confidence. We lost the confidence to connect some passes, even defensively we weren't able to close the attackings from France. At half-time we knew it's gonna be tough because my team was mentally down. I said to the guys that we had to forget all the stuff we did wrong in the first half and start the game. I think second half was OK but I know that in a team like France leading three nothing ahead, they don't play one hundred percent anymore. But it was good to see my team show the character to score at least one goal and keep the game a little bit open but with this first half, we weren't able to win the game."
