Succès étriqué pour l'Angleterre face à la Côte d'Ivoire
La domination anglaise s'intensifie après la pause. Watmore allume la première mèche avec un centre flottant difficilement repoussé par Kacou (CIV, 1). Ce n'est que partie remise pour les Three Lions et quelques secondes plus tard, c'est Robinson (ENG, 16) qui donne un avantage plus conséquent aux siens après un magnifique service de Grimes (ENG, 7). Un but qui va mettre un énorme coup au moral des Ivoiriens, qui semblent abdiquer. L'Angleterre se contente de gérer et le but tardif de Koné (CIV, 10) de la tête à trois minutes du terme ne change rien .Les hommes d'Aidy Boothroyd se relancent dans le groupe B après leur spectaculaire match nul face au Maroc.
Tight victory for England against Ivory Coast
Without shining, England beats Ivory Coast (2-1) after a disappointing game. However, it began with some rythm. Watmore (ENG, 20) makes a good ground at the edge of the box and passes it to Akpom (ENG, 10), who keeps calm and scores. Before that, Meïté (CIV, 11) tried his chance with a powerful shot in the area but Pickford (ENG, 13) saved it. A good start for England, which nevertheless can't manage to handle the game. Ivory Coast tries to push, especially with Assalé (CIV, 7), dangerous on his right side, but has some difficulties to get some chances. The last opportunity of the first half is for England, with Watmore (ENG, 20), brilliant in this game, who sends a volley after an accurate cross from Robinson (ENG, 16), but easily saved by the goalkeeper.
English domination is more intense after the break. A few seconds after a dangerous cross by Watmore (ENG, 20), Robinson (ENG, 16) gives a two goals advantage to his team after a magnificent service of Grimes (ENG, 7). A perfect scenario for Three Lions, who quietly waits for the end of the game. The late goal with a header of Koné (CIV, 10), three minutes before the end, doesn't change anything. After their epic draw against Morocco, Aidy Boothroyd's players are back in the group B.
